Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Aida keeps your charts and progress on your devices and in your own iCloud. This page lists everything that can leave your iPhone or iPad, and why.

Who is responsible for Aida?

Aida is made by Phu Nguyen, an independent developer (“I” on this page). I am the controller (the person who decides what happens to personal data) for the app and this website.

For people in the European Union and the UK, this policy follows the GDPR. Contact: ferro.cg.co@gmail.com.

What do you collect about me?

Nothing. Aida has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting tool.

I never receive your PDFs, your charts, your progress, or any identifier for you or your device. Aida's App Store privacy label says Data Not Collected.

This website sets no cookies and loads no analytics or third-party scripts. Its host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.

What stays on my iPhone or iPad?

Everything you put into Aida is stored in the app's storage on your device first:

  • The PDFs you import.
  • The chart Aida reads from them, the key and any corrections you make.
  • Every marked stitch, parked thread and session.
  • Your settings.

A mark is saved on the device before the screen updates. Airplane Mode changes nothing.

iOS encrypts the app's files. After a restart, they can't be read until you unlock the device once.

What goes to my iCloud?

With Sync with iCloud on, the same data is kept in your own iCloud, so your other devices signed in with your Apple Account see it.

  • This includes your PDFs, charts, progress and sessions.
  • It's stored in Aida's private area of your iCloud. Only your Apple Account can read it. I can't see it.
  • Apple stores it under the iCloud terms and counts it toward your iCloud storage.
  • Sync is on by default. Turn it off in Aida's Settings › Your data › Sync with iCloud. Your progress then stays on that device only.

What leaves my device?

Apart from iCloud, nothing leaves your device unless you tap to send it. Each of these opens the iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes:

  • Backup file: one .aida file with your charts, PDFs and every marked stitch. It isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere you trust.
  • Progress picture: an image of your chart, with the chart name hidden if you choose.
  • Send this PDF to Aida's developer: offered when a PDF can't be read. Only if you want to.

If you email me, I receive what you send: your message, your email address and any file you attach. I use it only to answer you and to fix chart reading.

Which internet services does the app use?

Only Apple's. Aida's own code makes no other network requests.

  • iCloud (Apple): keeps your charts and progress in step across your devices.
  • App Store (Apple): prices, purchases, restoring purchases and managing your plan.

You can check this yourself in Settings › Privacy & Security › App Privacy Report. Aida shows only Apple domains there.

What happens when I buy the plan?

Apple handles the payment. I never receive your name, email address or card details.

Aida checks your plan with Apple on your device. Nothing about your purchase is sent to me.

Apple gives me sales reports, such as the number of purchases per country, under Apple's privacy policy.

When your free month starts, iOS asks if Aida may send one reminder. It's scheduled on your device, two days before the free month ends.

Do widgets, the Live Activity and Siri send anything?

No. They read a short summary that Aida keeps on your device: chart names, stitches left and the running session.

  • Widgets and the Live Activity can show a chart name on your Home Screen or Lock Screen. Anyone holding your device can see it.
  • The Live Activity is updated on your device, not through a push service.
  • When you speak to Siri, Apple handles the voice request under its own privacy policy. Aida answers from the data on your device.

Does Apple share anything about me with you?

Only if you allow it. If you turned on Share With App Developers in iOS, Apple may send me anonymous crash reports and usage numbers.

You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

How do I delete my data?

Your data lives only on your devices and in your iCloud, so you delete it there. I hold no copy.

  • A deleted chart waits in Recently deleted for 30 days, then it's gone for good.
  • Delete now in Recently deleted removes the chart, its PDF and every marked stitch from the device and from iCloud.
  • Deleting the app removes its data from that device. To remove the iCloud copy, delete your charts in Aida first, or use Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage storage.
  • Backup files you saved elsewhere stay until you delete them.

What are my rights?

You can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or object to its use. Because I hold none, there is usually nothing to hand over.

Write to ferro.cg.co@gmail.com and I reply within 30 days. In the EU and the UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

What about children?

Aida collects no data from anyone, including children.

What if this policy changes?

If an app update changes how data is handled, I update this page and the date at the top before that update is released.
